The '90s icon, who is seemingly aging backwards, went for a funky and party-filled energy, opting for a structured and strapless silver minidress with a ruched finish and fabrics covered in reflective jewels. The bling vibes were strong as the singer also sported massive diamonds on her fingers and via wrist jewelry - she also donned huge hoop earrings and her blonde hair up in a messy ponytail.

A claw-like manicure and heavy makeup completed the statement look. More after the snap.

Taking to her caption, the New York native wrote:

"Thank you all for the overwhelming amount of birthday love! Another year that we’re growing, loving, and healing together! I can’t ever do it without the fans. I love y’all! To my friends, family, and peers- I love you so much! ❤️❤️"

Quick to leave a crown emoji was rapper Ludacris, with Jermaine Dupri writing: "Happy Birthday!!" Actress Taraji P. Henson also sent love, with fans doing the same. Scroll for more photos after the jump.

51 is confidence for Blige, but 50 was more of a challenge - but for good reasons. Last year, the Grammy winner told Ellen DeGeneres: "Oh man, I feel great. When it hit at 12 o'clock that night, I just cried like a baby because I made it." She added: "I've been through hell in my life, and to make it to 50, it was just beautiful. Family and friends were around, it was just beautiful."

In fact, she revealed that the pandemic had brought her a new strength.

Pandemic Gains

Referencing her quarantine, the R&B artist revealed the COVID upsides she'd experienced, continuing: "I really didn't like listening to even my speaking voice, let alone listening to Mary J. Blige, but I've grown so much in confidence that, during the quarantine, I don't know, something just said, "Listen to some Mary J. Blige."

Blige remains active on Instagram, where her account is followed by celebrities including Medicine singer and reality judge Jennifer Lopez, actress Halle Berry, plus Grammy winner Mariah Carey.
