Lindsay Lohan Checks Into Rehab With Help From Former Lawyer
Lindsay Lohan was able to check into rehab before her midnight deadline thanks to some help from her former lawyer.
Shawn Holley, who was abruptly fired by the Liz & Dick star in January, helped broker a deal which effectively kept the troubled actress out of jail. Lohan would have likely been tossed behind bars had she failed to find a rehab facility by the weekend.
“Ms. Lohan fulfilled her obligation to enroll in a rehab facility on May 2, so this office will not be seeking an arrest warrant from the court today,” Santa Monica City Attorney Terry White explained to the New York Daily News.
Lindsay Lohan checked into the Betty Ford Center after deciding against Morningside Recovery. The actress’ New York lawyer Mark Heller told a judge that his client had checked into the Newport Beach facility when she was actually shopping at an electronic’s store.
Michael Lohan was elated that his daughter had finally managed to secure a place in rehab with the help from her former lawyer. Although he didn’t say which facility Lindsay had checked into, it’s currently believed that she’ll spend the next 90 days at Betty Ford.
“I am so thankful to Shawn Holley and Evan Haney, her manager, for doing this,” Michael explained.
Lindsay’s dad stated that he was unhappy with her decision to stay at Morningside Recovery since it didn’t provide treatment for drug and alcohol abuse. The facility’s license to treat these issues was reportedly revoked by California officials.
“Lindsay had no idea that Morningside wasn’t approved,” Michael added.
After skipping out on Morningside Recovery, sources explained that Lindsay approached Shawn Holley for assistance. The lawyer was able to work with prosecutors to get the actress checked into the Betty Ford Center before her deadline expired.
What do you think about Lindsay Lohan’s rehab drama? Do you believe the actress will actually remain in the facility for the required 90 days?
