Bradley Cooper Confirms Departure From ‘Jane Got A Gun’
Bradley Cooper has confirmed his departure from Jane Got a Gun.
The actor is the latest person to drop out of the troubled western. Cooper addressed these reports shortly after the news first broke.
Bradley Cooper said in a statement:
“Regretfully, due to date conflicts between the film I an currently shooting for David O Russell and ‘Jane Got a Gun,’ I am unable to join Natalie, Joel, Noah and Gavin on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future.”
The Silver Linings Playbook star was brought in to replace Jude Law on Gavin O’Connor’s flick. The film, which is already in production, will now see another individual stepping in to take the role opposite Natalie Portman.
Rumor has it that Tobey Maguire, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Tom Hiddleston are currently being sought by producers. Jake Gyllenhaal, who recently signed on for Nightcrawler, has reportedly turned down an offer to star in Jane Got a Gun.
Bradley Cooper and Jude Law aren’t the only people who have famously left the western. Michael Fassbender dropped out of film due to scheduling conflicts with X-Men: Days of Future Past. His role was taken over by Joel Edgerton, while Jude Law stepped in to portray the villain.
To make matters worse for the production, director Lynne Ramsay decided to part ways with Jane Got a Gun just days before filming was slated to begin. Producers worked quickly to bring in Gavin O’Connor to fill the vacancy.
It’s unknown how Cooper’s departure will affect the film. It’s also unclear who will step into the role now that he has decided to jump ship as well. The actor is currently filming David O. Russell’s American Hustle with frequent collaborator Jennifer Lawrence.
