‘Die Hard 6’ May Follow Bruce Willis To Tokyo
If you saw Bruce Willis and newcomer Jai Courtney stink up the box office in A Good Day to Die Hard then you may want to cover your eyes for this news. Die Hard 6 is coming, whether you like it or not, and this time around the franchise might follow Willis’ John McClane to Tokyo.
Despite A Good Day to Die Hard pleasing no one, it still made a ton of money, earning over $300 million worldwide, so that calls for another sequel and a change of location. Other action franchises (Fast Furious) have benefited from the Tokyo landscape, and it looks like Die Hard 6 may take a trip for the next film.
Screenwriter Brit Ben Trebilcook is currently penning the latest installment. According to TotalFilm, Trebilcook has high hopes for this one, and says the film, “could be the Rocky Balboa of the Die Hard franchise.” Oh boy! In addition, Trebilcook gave a bit more detail, “It is extremely faithful to the franchise and characters, and is a natural progression. It’s also a very plausible storyline.”
The fact that it’s a very plausible storyline, already sees the new Die Hard film oceans better than A Good Day to Die Hard, which at times made little to no sense.
In addition, the film report includes that Treibilcook’s story would start out in New York City but then would move to Tokyo. Where does Tokyo come in? It seems as though the bulk of the action sequences will be filmed in Tokyo. While this may seem a bit random, Tokyo does act as a pretty neat backdrop, at least it has in the past for other films.
However, don’t get too excited because things are barely locked on the next Die Hard film. Screenwriter Trebilcook has even said there will be “many hurdles to leap” before things are a go for Die Hard 6. What would be the biggest hurdle? Our guess is getting Bruce Willis to sign up for another film. Then again, with a little money stranger things have happened.
