Catherine Zeta-Jones Being Treated For Bipolar II Disorder

Catherine Zeta-Jones has checked herself into a health care facility to receive treatment for bipolar II disorder.

A spokesman for Zeta-Jones said that the actress checked into the facility voluntarily to maintain her health.

The spokeswoman told People Magazine: “Catherine has proactively checked into a health care facility … Previously Catherine has said that she is committed to periodic care in order to manage her health in an optimum manner.”

E! News reports that Jones completed treatment back in 2011 and is committed to staying healthy. A friend of the actress said that Zeta-Jones decided to receive treatment for bipolar II disorder now since she is currently in between projects.

The fiend said: “There was no big problem … This was just a good time to do it. She is in between projects. This has always been part of the plan. She would manage her health. She is vigilant about it.”

Zeta-Jones has talked about her battle with bipolar disorder before. After her stint at a mental health facility in 2011, Jones said: “This is a disorder that affects millions of people and I am one of them. If my revelation of having bipolar II has encouraged one person to seek help, then it is worth it. There is no need to suffer silently and there is no shame in seeking help.”

Catherine Zeta-Jones has finished filming her next movie, Red 2, which will be released later this summer.
