Manti Te’o Passed Over In NFL First Draft

Manti Te’o has been passed over during the first round of the NFL draft at Radio City Music Hall in New York.

This is because Te’o’s form diminished after his fake girlfriend scandal engulfed the sport earlier this year, with many believing that it distracted the player.

Dozens of college football players were selected ahead of Te’o as teams decided that he wasn’t worth the risk, even though he is a runner up to the Heisman Trophy.

Te’o hasn’t been present at Radio City Music Hall, deciding to stay at his home in Hawaii instead. Te’o wasn’t expected to be select by either the Chicago Bears or Minnesota Vikings but they went with Kyle Long and Shariff Floyd instead.

He will now have to wait until Friday, which is when the second and third rounds of the draft will start, to find out his destiny.

As it became clear that Te’o wasn’t being selected various people across Twitter and Facebook began to make fun of the player.

They were mostly aimed at his fake girlfriend, Lennay Kekua, who supposedly died on September 12 from leukaemia only six hours after her grandmother passed away, whilst she recovered from a car crash.

This coincided with Te’o’s progress at Notre Dame, which saw him push the team into the BCS championships.

However Lennay was soon exposed as a hoax, which had been created by Roanaiah Tuiasosopo, who created various Twitter and Facebook accounts to trick Te’o, as we was in love with the linebaker.

Te’o has repeatedly said that he was the victim in the hoax, but Te’o’s form dropped after the scandal as teams questioned whether he had the mental capabilities to make it in the sport.

Last month though he proved that he should be first round draft consideration by running a 40-yard-dash in just 4.71 seconds.

Do you think Manti Te’o deserves to be drafted?
