Melissa Gilbert Wedding: ‘DWTS’ Star Ties The Knot In A Hurry

Melissa Gilbert has gone with a quick wedding, tying the knot with Timothy Busfield just a few months after the two got engaged.

The star of Season 14 of Dancing with the Stars got engaged to Busfield near the end of 2012 after an ongoing but not-always-romantic relationship.

“They got engaged over the holidays,” source told Us Weekly. “They’ve known each other for quite some time, as their paths have crossed off-and-on over the past 20 years.”

Melissa Gilbert had her wedding on April 24 in a private ceremony at San Ysidro Ranch in Santa Barbara, a source told People magazine.

It’s been a popular wedding venue in the past, serving as a setting for many Hollywood events and nuptials. In a photo from Melissa Gilbert’s wedding, the 48-year-old Little House on the Prairie actress was seen wearing a strapless red gown with a red and white bouquet.

“She looked simply stunning,” noted Reality TV Magazine.

Melissa Gilbert starred as Laura Ingalls Wilder on Little House on the Prairie for a decade stretching the 1970s and 80s. Gilbert has worked mostly in television since then, appearing in Babylon 5 and Touched By An Angel, but also has taken a leadership role in Hollywood. She was elected president of the Screen Actors Guild in 2001, serving two terms before stepping down in 2005.

Gilbert comes from a famous family. Her younger sister Sara is also an actress, playing Darlene on Roseanne. Sara herself recently got engaged to her girlfriend.

Busfield is best known for his role as Eliot Weston on Thirtysomething and his role as Danny Concannon on The West Wing.

This is the third wedding for both Melissa Gilbert and Timothy Busfield, who have each been wed and divorced twice before. Gilbert has two children, one each with ex-husbands Bo Brinkman and Bruce Boxleitner. Busfield has three children from his prior marriages.
