Jimmy Kimmel Mocks Reese Witherspoon After She Cancels TV Appearance
Jimmy Kimmel mercilessly mocked Reese Witherspoon on his Monday late night show after she decided not to appear on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
The actress was set to be interviewed by the former Saturday Night Live comedian on Tuesday evening, as well as Good Morning America on Monday morning, both of which she canceled.
Kimmel then made fun of her on his own show, stating, “The police report says she asked the cop ‘Do you know my name? You’re about to find out who I am.’ Does that ever work? ‘Do you know who I am?’ is the second only to ‘Do you know who my father is?!'”
He then added, “It’s a bad question because the answer is either ‘no’ – which is embarrassing – or ‘yes, and you’re going to jail’.”
The Legally Blonde star was arrested on Friday morning after a police office pulled her and her husband, Jim Toth, over for driving under the influence of alcohol. Toth was then arrested and charged with the offence, whilst Witherspoon was also placed into handcuffs after she became agitated by the arresting officer.
Witherspoon has since apologised for her actions, stating that she is “deeply embarrassed” and that she had “one too many” drinks.
The pair are set to appear in court in Atlanta on May 22 and May 23, after their hearing was canceled yesterday.
Another comedian to make a joke at her expense was David Spade, who as he left Boa Steakhouse on Monday remarked, “If you have to explain to someone you’re famous, then you’re technically not that famous.”
Witherspoon was filming her new movie, The Good Lie, in Georgia, Atlanta, at the time of her arrest, but then flew to New York City to promote her new film Mud. She decided to keep a low profile at the event though.
What do you think of Kimmel’s joke?
