Don Cheadle Might Appear In ‘The Avengers 2’
Don Cheadle has hinted that he might be reprising his role as James Rhodes in the upcoming sequel to The Avengers.
Cheadle looks set to feature heavily in the forthcoming Iron Man 3 as both Rhodes and his superhero alter ego, War Machine, and this looks to have cemented The Avengers 2′s writer and director, Joss Whedon, decision to give the character a run-out in his film too.
Whedon is currently hard at work on the script to the film, and even though Cheadle hasn’t confirmed his appearance, he has stated that there is a distinct possibility that he’ll appear.
“I know that [there are] conversations that have been happening, so we’ll see what happens,” says Cheadle. “If that’s able to happen and it makes sense for the story, I’m sure it’ll happen, and if not it’s fine. It has to work within the world and sort of the mythology of the whole Marvel universe.”
Cheadle has also revealed that he might be involved in Captain America: The Winter Soldier too, stating, “I think I’m gonna go to the set, so maybe if I bring the suit in my trunk I’ll just walk on.”
Yesterday it was revealed that an Iron Man 3 subplot involving Tony Stark’s alcoholism was cut from the script, at the request of Disney.
Shane Black, the movie’s writer and director, explained, “I think we were just told by the studio that we should probably paint Tony Stark as being kind of an industrialist and a crazy guy, or even a bad guy at some points, but the ‘Demon in a Bottle’ stuff of him being an alcoholic wouldn’t really fly. I don’t blame that.”
Meanwhile, Whedon also recently announced that, The Avengers 2, would start filming in February 2014, with a release date planned for the following summer.
