Simon Cowell Moves To Film, Sells Animated Feature
In the not-too-distant future, audiences may get a chance to judge infamous curmudgeon Simon Cowell’s artistic talents. The former American Idol and current X Factor judge has reportedly sold his first animated feature film to a studio, and may appear in it himself.
The music mogul admits that he has been flirting with the idea of venturing into film for some time, announcing his new animated feature in a Sunday interview with the U.K.’s Daily Star.
“I have an animation movie I have just sold. It’s my concept. It’s an idea I had 10 years ago, and the first studio I’ve gone to wants it. Making an animation is something I’ve always, always, wanted to do because I love cartoons. We only did the deal a few weeks ago, so I’m not allowed to say any more.”
This isn’t technically Cowell’s first foray into film. He has recently been involved in projects like the One Direction 3D concert movie due out August 29, and is behind an upcoming Paul Potts biopic starring James Corden.
He is also working on a film about Pudsey, the dancing dog from Britain’s Got Talent.
Still, his upcoming animated feature would mark his first “creative” debut in film, with a concept and plot that he came up with himself.
A source added that Cowell is keen to do some voice work for the animated feature himself, as well.
“He wants to feature in some way. He also wants the biggest Hollywood A-listers to do the voiceovers. Don’t be surprised if one or two familiar faces from his reality shows appear, too.”
