Boston bombing suspect Dzhokar Tsarnaev is reportedly awake and answering questions.

Tsarnaev was captured late Friday evening after a city-wide lockdown and manhunt had Boston in a vice throughout the day. He was cornered in someone’s back yard in residential Watertown, and hid in a boat trading gunfire with authorities until they coaxed him out.

After it was determined that he was not wearing an explosive vest, authorities declared victory, and the city of Boston breathed a sigh of relief.

He was then transported to a hospital, where he was under armed guard, recovering from injuries sustained in the firefight with police.

He was reportedly in serious condition and unconscious. Few details were given on his condition, aside from an early Sunday report that suggested his injuries would render him unable to speak .

Now, according to ABC’s Twitter news feed, Dzhokhar is reportedly awake and communicating with law enforcement officials.

In a series of tweets, ABC’s live breaking updates detail that Dzhokhar is conscious, though responding to questions sporadically. The earlier report about an injury leaving him unable to speak was also apparently confirmed, as the update says he is answering questions in writing.

Questions being posed to Dzhokhar involve whether he is working alone or as part of a terrorist cell. They are also asking about other unexploded bombs that could be planted throughout the city.

As you can plainly see, there are currently no details regarding his answers. Expect a more detailed report from Boston authorities later tonight or early Monday morning. As always, we’re watching the Boston bombing story very closely, and will be here to provide up-to-the-minute information as it comes out.
