America, Let’s Buy David Henneberry A New Boat (After His Was Ruined In Boston Standoff)
Watertown, MA – David Henneberry’s backyard was the stage where the the city-wide manhunt for Boston bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnaev reached its climax, and his boat was the young man’s final fortress. That boat was ruined in the standoff, and now America wants to replace it.
Henneberry played his part Friday evening, calling police and thinking nothing of himself or his property when he learned that Dzhokhar Tsarnaev was camped out in the boat behind his house. After cops arrived and managed to arrest Tsarnaev alive after a tense standoff, Henneberry’s boat was ruined, riddled full of bullet holes.
“That boat’s his baby. He takes care of it like you wouldn’t believe. And they told him it’s all shot up,” Henneberry’s friend told ABC News. “He’s going to be heartbroken.”
But Henneberry is being hailed a hero, and the entire nation is rallying around him. The least we can do is get him a new boat, right?
One Florida woman has already sent him $25 to help him get a new boat, applauding his quick thinking after discovering a bloodied Tsarnaev in his boat.
“Just listening to his coolness and how he handled the situation, it was like okay, that is a man who needs to have his boat restored,” 62-year-old Deborah Newberry said.
Another Floridian wants to send Henneberry $1,000 toward a new boat. John Phillips, a lawyer, reasons that Henneberry will need a new boat anyway, since his will be locked up in evidence for some time.
“[The boat] is fairly insignificant in the grand scheme of things, but that’s what’s significant to him,” Phillips said. “If that’s what the guy’s passion is, I have no problem whatsoever chipping in and helping out.”
Twitter has also hosted a call to fund a new boat for Henneberry.

Spoke to ABC about a tweet that I’d kick in to help buy David Henneberry a new boat. Why a company hasn’t delivered one yet, I have no idea.
