First Images Of Jamie Foxx As Electro On ‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Set Emerge
The Amazing Spider-Man 2‘s Jamie Foxx has been pictured on the streets of New York dressed in character as Electro, the movie’s villain.
These images have leaked online after they were snapped in Times Square. Foxx is wearing a LED lit black hoodie, whilst his face is covered entirely in blue paint and appears to be covered in scales too. Foxx’s Electro also has veins running down his neck from across his face too.
Foxx is played Max Dillon, whose alter-ego is Electro, in Marc Webb’s sequel to 2012’s The Amazing Spider-Man. Electro gains his power after being struck by lightning whilst at work on a power line, and this enables him to control electricity and use it to his advantage.
In the comics, Electro is able to shoot lightning from his finger tips and also uses various electronic devices to hurt his rivals. However there are some huge differences between Foxx’s incarnation of the character and the comics.
Foxx’s blue tinged villain is directly opposed to the over-the-top and melodramatic antagonist on paper, who is usually caught wearing yellow and green attire.
When previously talking about his character, Foxx described how he is obsessed with Spider-Man. “He’s cutting out Spider-Man’s face and pasting it on all his boards … then everything goes bad with his mom,” stated Foxx. “She doesn’t remember his birthday. He has something tragic happen and, when it turns on, he lights up.”
This is the first time that Electro has featured in one of the Spider-Man movies, but Foxx told The Sun that the character will be much different to the comic books version, “The producers want something for the future. They want to have it more grounded and not as comic book-y, so it won’t be green and yellow.”
He then added, “They want to try new things, like a liquid rubber and things like that, and there are all these bolts and stuff in my arms when they are hanging me upside down .. How did he become this ? So, it will be some new stuff.”
Are you looking forward to The Amazing Spider-Man 2? What do you think of the changes that have been made to Electro?
