Trace Adkins’ tour bus crashes in Louisiana, 2 dead
Two people were killed today in a collision involving Trace Adkins’ tour bus and a pickup truck near Shreveport, Louisiana.
Justin R. Maxey, 21, of Fouke, Ark., and Jeffrey R. Ferguson Jr., 36, of Texarkana, driver and passenger of a Ford F-250 truck, were killed when their vehicle crossed the center line and hit the bus head-on as it traveled south. Five passengers on the bus (Adkins was not present at the time of the crash) were taken to a local hospital, and the two men in the truck were pronounced dead at the scene. Adkins arrived at the scene and spent time with the four people on the bus who were not taken to the hospital, before accompanying them to the Caddo Memorial Hospital in Vivian.
Cause of the accident is under investigation, but witnesses indicate that the truck was weaving prior to the crash. Adkins was scheduled to open with his band at a Martina McBride concert at the CenturyTel Center in Bossier City, and the appearance is expected to go on as planned.
