15-Year-Old Assisted Unlicensed Abortion Doctor Through Work-Study Program

A 15-year-old assisted an unlicensed abortion doctor through a work-study program at her high school. Ashley Baldwin, age 22, testified that she started working in the clinic when she was 15. She reports that she routinely assisted with abortions and wrote prescriptions for patients.

Baldwin serves as one of many witnesses against Kermit Gosnell, age 72, who is on trial for killing a female patient, murdering seven babies that were born alive, posing as a medical doctor, and performing illegal late-term abortions.

As reported by the Huffington Post, Baldwin testified that she worked nearly 50 hours a week at the clinic. As a teen, she worked by Gosnell’s side assisting with abortions, many of which were late-term. Additionally, she was expected to administer medication and write prescriptions for patients.

Baldwin described two incidents where she observed babies moving following an abortion procedure. When she questioned Gosnell, she was told that the babies were dead. Baldwin contends that she clearly saw one of the babies breathing.

Gosnell’s clinic has been described as a “house of horrors.” He and his staff have been accused of performing illegal and dangerous procedures for for years.

The Pennsylvania Grand Jury outlined the horrific details:

“… he regularly and illegally delivered live, viable, babies in the third trimester of pregnancy – and then murdered these newborns by severing their spinal cords with scissors.”

Members of the grand jury pointed out that the case is not about whether abortion should or should not be legal. They stated that their moral and personal beliefs have nothing to do with their findings. Their decision, they state, was based entirely on Gosnell’s “disregard of the law.”

The reportedly murdered newborns were only part of the problem. The grand jury also found that the unlicensed doctor, and his employees, risked the lives of their patients:

“The medical practice by which he carried out this business was a filthy fraud in which he overdosed his patients with dangerous drugs, spread venereal disease among them with infected instruments, perforated their wombs and bowels– and, on at least two occasions, caused their deaths.”

Ashley Baldwin’s mother Tina worked with her daughter at the clinic but did not stop the then 15-year-old from assisting the unlicensed abortion doctor. Tina has described Gosnell as “a caring doctor.” For her involvement in the clinic, Tina has plead guilty to racketeering and conspiracy. She also plead guilty to corrupting a minor for allowing her daughter to continue working in the corrupt clinic.

Although she has testified against Gosnell, Ashley has not explained why she failed to report the illegal activity to her school work-study program. She simply stated “we all kept working there.”
