Russell Crowe Told Rebel Wilson To ‘F— Off!’ [Video]

Actress and comedian Rebel Wilson once met fellow Australian celebrity Russell Crowe, but it didn’t go so well. Before she could peep a word, Crowe told her to “f*** off!”

Sitting down with Jay Leno to promote her hosting gig at the MTV Movie Awards, Wilson recalled meeting Crowe for the first time. At the time, Wilson was still up-and-coming, and studying acting in New York on a Nicole Kidman-sponsored scholarship through the Australian Theatre for Young People.

“Nicole paid for everything!” Wilson explained. “An apartment, going to see Broadway shows — she doesn’t know about that.”

Then one day, Wilson spotted Kidman in Sydney, and wanted to thank her. The only thing standing between Kidman and Wilson was actor Russell Crowe.

“I saw her having dinner with Russell Crowe and I go, ‘OK, now’s my chance. I’m going to say thank you,'” Wilson recalled. “I went up to them but, before I could say anything, Russell Crowe turns to me and says, ‘F*** off!'”

Then, like so many of the adorably awkward characters she plays, Wilson did the only thing she could do.

“I just put my head down and walked the other way,” she said.

She then thanked Nicole on the show, and added, “It’s a true story.”

Most people learn not to cross Russell Crowe the hard way. The hot-headed actor once threw a phone at a concierge’s head, and pinned a BBC producer up against a wall for cutting an acceptance speech off.

His temper is so well known in popular culture, it has even been parodied on the Comedy Central program South Park, which featured a fictionalized version of the actor hosting a reality TV show in which he travels the world to fight … well … whoever.

Anyway, Rebel Wilson is this year’s MTV Movie Awards host, and revealed in the interview that she’ll reunite with her Pitch Perfect cast-mates for a performance.

“It’s pretty full-on,” she says about the gig. “I have to dance, I have to sing, I have to do jokes and I have to try to look hot … that’ll probably be the hardest one.”
