Kelly Clarkson recently revealed that not only will Blake Shelton sing at her upcoming wedding to Brandon Blackstock, but the country singer will also be conducting the ceremony.
Backstage at the ACM Awards Sunday night, Clarkson told ET ‘s Nancy O’Dell that Shelton, who is managed by her fiancé, would be officiating.
“He’s not only singing, he’s marrying us,” the 30-year-old said. “He totally is, he’s done it before with people. He’s actually marrying Ashley Monroe from the Pistol Annies,” she added. The Pistol Annies is Shelton’s wife Miranda Lambert’s band .
O’Dell joked that Shelton is usually drunk and asked what would happen if he’s drunk when he officiates the ceremony.
“He plays that persona up, but he’s very serious,” she said.
It was actually Shelton who prompted Blackstock, who is the stepson of Reba McEntire, to propose to Clarkson.
“I told Brandon, man, you need to grow up and figure out that you need to marry this girl. I am going on the record saying, I will do the music at the wedding or whatever you want to do, I’ll be that guy,” Shelton told Hollyscoop in December. “I will play for four hours if I have to, cause you need to get your head out of your a** and ask that girl to marry you.”
Blackstock took Shelton’s advice and proposed shortly afterward. Clarkson tweeted the happy news the day after.
I’M ENGAGED!!!!! I wanted y’all to know!! Happiest night of my life last night! I am so lucky and am with the greatest man ever ?

While Clarkson has said she and Blackstock don’t have an actual date set yet, the two do have a month decided. In the meantime, Kelly Clarkson will be going on tour with Maroon 5 this summer and is currently working on her six studio album, which she has said will be lighter and happier than her previous albums due to her relationship with Brandon Blackstock.
