‘Halo 4’ Could Get Microtransactions Soon
Halo 4 might soon be adding microtransactions. 343 Industries, the group behind the development of the game feels that there might be room to add micro-payment options to the game in the near future.
Already one of the most popular games of the last few years, this would be just the latest title that has taken on a feature that hadn’t been seen inside console video games until very recently.
Since the first few Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 games started adding microtransactions, it seems like there has been a snowball affect and almost every game that gets produced has to come with the option.
Halo 4 seems to prove that even if you’ve been on the market for a while, you are going to get these kinds of microtransactions. This addition is despite the fact that not everyone is in love with these kinds of features.
343 Industries Executive producer Dan Ayoub recently talked to Digital Spy about what his company is thinking when it comes to microtransactions.
It seems clear that the company isn’t going to go whole hog into the situation without taking a good long look. Ayoub said that he is looking at Gears of War‘s model as one way to go.
That game offers small cosmetic upgrades that don’t affect the actual gameplay all that much. These cosmetic changes are offered up for a small fee.
“I think Halo certainly has the potential for those kinds of things,” Ayoub told the website. He also added that doesn’t mean that the game is going to get those kinds of microtransactions for certain.
Halo 4 just got its latest Castle map pack and that is basically the last bit of add-ons that come in the year pass. There could be more content on the way, but it hasn’t been decided just yet.
Ayoub said that whether or not to bring microtransactions to the title would hinge greatly on fan feedback.
