How cool would it be to fly down a golf course in your very own hovercraft golf cart? Just ask professional golfer Bubba Watson. Watson is the proud owner of the Neoteric Hovercraft.
The 2012 Masters champ was recently shown on video driving around in the Oakley sponsored ride.
On the YouTube channel titled BubbasHover, the hovercraft is seen traveling around a golf course. The video has received 1,434,878 views at the time of this post.
The video was released on Tuesday which led some spectators to wonder if it was just a late April Fools’ day prank. As it turns out it is a very real project.
On the product’s video page, Bubba and Oakley write:
Golf carts haven’t changed much over the years. They look and feel the same. What if there was a way to improve the traditional golf cart concept and take away some of the limitations? That is what Bubba Watson and Oakley set out to do. They created the world’s first hovercraft golf cart. Using hovercraft technology, the BW1 is able to glide over any terrain including grass, sand, and water.
Here’s a video of Bubba Watson cruising around with his Neoteric Hovercraft:

Driving across water hazards instead of driving around them? Who wouldn’t want a machine capable of that feat! It’s fun and functional at the same time.
Could you imagine if the PGA adopted hovercraft golf carts? Perhaps golf would look a little bit more up to date for non-fans of the sport. On the other hand, it wouldn’t do much to sell the sport to the masses if golfers were riding around on futuristic looking machines that seem like something a rich guy would cruise around his fancy country club with.
What do you think of the Neoteric Hovercraft?
