Melissa Joan Hart Named Nutrisystem Spokesperson

Melissa Joan Hart came to fame on Clarissa Explains It All in the 90s on Nickelodeon, and now the former child star is mom of three kids herself — and newly named spokeswoman for the diet plan Nutrisystem.

After her Nick days, Melissa Joan Hart was also star of Sabrina The Teenage Witch, but an early start to showbiz doesn’t seem to have affected the actress negatively — making her an excellent product pitchwoman for Nutrisystem.

Nutrisystem seems to agree with the assessment, and Chief Marketing Officer Keira Krausz commented on the selection of Hart as a face for the nutrition plan.

The CMO says that Nutrisystem is “thrilled to be helping and working with Melissa,” and that Hart “mirrors [Nutrisystem’s] values and will resonate with [their] customers as authentic.”

Of Melissa Joan Hart’s new Nutrisystem gig, the brand says that the Melissa & Joey star’s relatability was a key factor in hiring her — and that both celebrities and the non-famous will be featured as part of the diet brand’s marketing strategy in the future:

“Moving forward, you’ll see us have an appropriate mix of inspiring celebrities and real life customers who have also enjoyed success. We think dieters are savvier than ever and really appreciate someone who — above all else — is relatable.”

Melissa Joan Hart says she’s lost 20 pounds on Nutrisystem since the birth of her youngest baby in September.
