The Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini will go on sale in May according to a rumor at Bloomberg. The Samsung Galaxy S4 won’t go on sale until April which means a quick turn around for buyers looking for a smaller handheld device.
Samsung followed up its 4.8-inch Samsung Galaxy S III with the more compact 4-inch display of the Galaxy S III Mini.
According to the report the Galaxy S4 Mini will follow in other device releases by offering slightly lower specifications than its larger counterpart.
The Samsung Galaxy S4 features a 5-inch display, a size that until recently was classified in the ‘ phablet ‘ category because of its strain for many everyday users. In comparison the Samsung Galaxy S III featured a 4.8-inch display which even then was seen as too large for many users.
Samsung has not revealed the size for the Galaxy S4 Mini but many Android users have been clamoring for a high-end smartphone measuring between 4.0 and 4.3-inches in size.
The question now will be how far down Samsung can push the Galaxy S4 Mini without sacrificing too much performance. Larger devices allow for more hardware which in turn classifies the devices as ‘high-end.’ The Galaxy S4 Mini is expected to pack a dual-core processor clocked at 1.6GHz. The S4 Mini is also pointing towards an 8MP front-side camera and a 2-megapixel front camera. Like it’s larger counterpart the smartphone is also believed to be sporting a microSD card port and sizes up to 64GB.
The Galaxy S4 Mini is also believed to be working with the original mobile devices plastic body and removable battery design.
Are you willing to sacrifice performance for a more compact S4 design? The success of the device could come down to what matters most to users, although a dual-core processor is probably fine for most casual users.
