Sean Combs Tops Hip-Hop Rich List
Sean Combs has been labelled as the richest star in the world of hip hop by Forbes for a second year in a row.
Sean Combs, who now goes by the name of Diddy, but used to have the moniker, P Diddy, was able to keep hold of the honour because he possesses a $580million fortune.
He has amassed this amount thanks to his record label, Bad Boy Records, which he founded. He also owns various other business ventures too, which includes Ciroc vodka, the Sean John and Enyce clothing lines, his marketing firm, Blue, as well as a hoard of tech start-ups.
Jack Russo, an equity analyst, discussed Diddy’s Ciroc vodka with Forbes, remarking, “It is one of the fastest-growing brands within vodka. Consumers are feeling a little bit better about their situation, and with that, they’re willing to spend more on premium products.”
Jay-Z took second place on the list, as he now possesses a net worth of $475 million, which is thanks to the huge success of his Roc Nation record label and management company.
The rapper, who was born Shawn Corey Carter, currently holds stakes in the Brooklyn Nets and the Barclays Center as well as having partnerships with numerous brands too.
Dr. Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, finished in third place, which in part is due to his hugely successful headphones brand, Beats by Dre, and he now has around $350 million in his bank account.
Birdman, the co-founder of Cash Money records, and 50 Cent rounded off the top 5, the latter of whom has around a $125 million fortune.
Cash Money records features the likes of Drake, Nicki Minaj, and Lil Wayne on their roster. Lil Wayne is supposedly closing in on reaching this list, after he himself earned $100 million this year.
