An international red band trailer for Kick-Ass 2 has been released online.
The clip embedded below isn’t too different from the video released earlier this week. Instead of editing the trailer for everyone to enjoy, this particular clip doesn’t shy away from a little blood and a lot of foul language.
Like the previous trailer, the focus is specifically on Hit-Girl as she attempts to live the life of a normal teenage girl. After getting busted for sneaking out to fight crime, Mindy (Chloe Moretz) is banished from donning her iconic outfit and ordered to attend class like a regular girl.
As evidenced by the Kick-Ass 2 clip below, it doesn’t take long before Hit-Girl reemerges to help the title character battle his archenemy. She joins a team of like-minded superheroes who are dedicated to ridding the city of villains once and for all.
However, the heroes will certainly have their work cut out for them this time around. The official plot synopsis explains:
“Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.”
Director Jeff Wadlow takes over the reins from Matthew Vaughn. The films are based on a series of comic books crafted by Mark Millar and John Romita Jr. Both guys will appear as crime fighters in the upcoming sequel.
The international red band trailer has been embedded below. This version of the clip is definitely not safe for work.
Writer-director Jeff Wadlow’s Kick-Ass 2 stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Morris Chestnut, John Leguizamo, Donald Faison, Jim Carrey. Moviegoers can expect the sequel to arrive in cinemas on August 16.
