Lynn Shelton’s ‘Next’ Scores Anne Hathaway And Sam Rockwell
There seems to be new film news coming out of director Lynn Shelton’s camp. Reports have started to come in that Shelton, who abandoned the film Jane Got A Gun, is now gearing up to helm a new project.
Lynn Shelton’s next film will be titled Next, and stars Anne Hathaway, Chloe Moretz, and Sam Rockwell, are all in major negotiations to star in the film. This is a huge silver lining for Shelton since she had spent a long time developing the Natalie Portman film before dropping out on the first day of production over problems concerning the film.
Hathaway, Moretz, and Rockwell are actors who have received major buzz for their recent projects. For Hathaway, she’s coming right off of her Oscar win for Les Miserables, while Chloe Moretz seems to be taking the lead in Kick Ass 2 and looks to be pretty promising in the reboot of Carrie. In addition Rockwell is receiving rave reviews for his Sundance films, especially for The Way Way Back.
If all goes well for the three thespians and director Lynn Shelton, they could have a pretty promising film on their hands. The official synopsis for Next reads as:
“The dark comedy chronicles perpetual adolescent and late-twentysomething Megan (Hathaway) who, freaked out by her boyfriend’s marriage proposal, pretends to go on a career retreat but actually hides out for a week with 16-year Annika (Moretz), her new best friend. Actor Mark Webber is also in talks to join the film as Megan’s boyfriend.”
So far the screenplay is locked by Andrea Seigel, and with Shelton abandoning Jane Got A Gun it looks like she’s setting her eyes on Next in a major way.
In addition to Next, Magnolia pictures picked up Shelton’s Touchy Feely film for distribution, which would be a follow up to her widely well received Your Sister’s Sister which starred Mark Duplass and Rosemarie DeWitt, the latter who also stars in Touchy Feely.
