Eva Mendes Wants People To Respect Her Dog’s Privacy
Eva Mendes wants her dog out of the public eye.
The actress gave a recent interview in New York Magazine in which she skirted talking about a number of personal topics, including her boyfriend Ryan Gosling.
While Eva didn’t seem to want to discuss details of her personal life, the actress revealed another sensitive topic — her dogs. In the interview she said she wishes people wouldn’t talk about her dogs and that tabloids would leave them alone.
“I’ll go somewhere and they’ll be like, ‘Hey, Hugo!’ and I’m like, ‘How do you know Hugo’s name? That’s so creepy!’ ” Mendes said.
Eva Mendes appears to forget that she’s already talked about her dogs publicly. On an appearance on The Late Show with David Letterman last week, Eva not only disclosed Hugo’s name but also divulged some details of his life.
“His name’s Hugoooo,” Mendes told Letterman. “Well, ‘Ugo’ if I’m upset or need to give him a command.”
Eva Mendes had some more stories about her dog to share. During her Thursday appearance with Letterman, she talked about how she bought the dog a shock collar to prevent him from attacking smaller animals.
Wary of whether it would hurt the dog too much, Eva decided to test it out on herself first.
“I have the remote. But I’ve tried it on myself at all levels. I swear!” Mendes told Letterman.
When Letterman asked what she meant by “all levels,” Mendes explained: “Well, it goes from 0-110. I tested it on my arm. It’s more than a tingle, it’s way more than tingle.”
The insistence on privacy for her dogs may seem odd, but Eva’s guarded interview about her personal life appeared to be tongue in cheek. When asked if she wanted children, Mendes laughed and said, “You know the cartoon where the steam comes out and it says, ‘Boop-beep-boop.System down!‘?”
It could be that Eva Mendes’ insistence on privacy for her dog may have been meant mostly as a joke.
