‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’ Will Include ‘Batroc The Leaper’
Captain America: The Winter Soldier has reportedly cast at least one of its villains. Batroc the Leaper is a character that has appeared in quite a few editions of the Captain America comics and he will now apparently be making his big screen debut.
Professional martial artist & UFC Welterweight Champion Georges St-Pierre has reportedly been signed to play this particular character. There has been quite a bit of casting news for the movie in the last couple of weeks. Emily Van Camp has been signed to serve as a love interest to Steve Rogers and Robert Redford is apparently in talks to take on a role in the flick as well.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier is due to begin filming in May, so it makes sense that the studio is staffing up the people who will actually be on film. There does seem to be some thinking that Batroc the Leaper can’t be the only villain in this flick as he has tended to be a minor character in the comics.
If there is going to be another super villain, word has not leaked out on who that might be. In the comics, Batroc is a french mercenary who is often hired on by bigger and badder villains, which is the other reason it seems like we’re still missing someone.
Batroc does not actually have any powers, but is an expert in Savate which is a French version of foot-fighting. Batroc is also an expert in kickboxing and has a knowledge of other martial arts.
There isn’t a whole lot known about what the entire plot of this movie will be. We do know that it is supposed to pick up in Cap’s life directly after the events of The Avengers.
Are you excited about seeing Batroc in Captain America: The Winter Soldier?
