Spice Girls Reunion Not Happening, Victoria Beckham’s ‘Singing Days Are Over’
Despite recent rumors of a potential Spice Girls reunion with all of the original members, Victoria Beckham (formerly Posh Spice) is reportedly uninterested in picking up the microphone ever again.
“Victoria has made no secret of the fact her singing days are over, with a hugely successful business and a growing family,” a rep for the former pop star said yesterday. “She loved her time as a Spice Girl and will always wish the other girls well in whatever they choose to do.”
Posh is probably just too busy a gal these days. The 38-year-old wife of English footballer David Beckham has become a successful fashion designer, and wants to stay focused on that career. That, and being a mom to her four children.
So what are the other four Spice Girls going to do without Posh?
After reuniting for the Olympics closing ceremony for a set, Geri Halliwell, Melanie Brown, Emma Bunton, and Melanie Chrisholm apparently want to keep performing. Rumor has it that they’re planning on organizing a reality show to help them find a new, fifth member.
“The girls, particularly Geri, are think there is so much more that they can achieve, and they know that their fans still want to see them perform. In an ideal world Victoria would be part of their plan, but she just won’t budge,” an insider said.
“It is a dream of Geri’s to get the girls back together for good tour, a bit like Take That have done it. She would give anything for this to all work out. She has spoken to TV production companies about how it would work and has got very excited. Things are gradually getting further down the line,” the source continued.
Despite all the gossip, a spokesperson for the Spice Girls band was unavailable for comment.
Further, Mel C (Sporty Spice) seemed to deny the rumors Sunday, tweeting:
It seems there are some very peculiar stories in the press today. I haven’t seen one that’s true yet!
