‘Amazing Spider-Man 2’ Will Not Feature Multiple Spidey Suits
The Amazing Spider-Man 2 will not be featuring multiple Spider-Man costumes after all.
It was reported this week that the Marc Webb follow-up to 2012’s reboot of the Spider-Man film franchise will see Andrew Garfield suit up in at least two separate Spider-Man costumes, according to a tweet from Spidey stuntman William R. Spencer.
Spencer tweeted a photo of himself, unmasked, wearing what appeared to be the costume from The Amazing Spider-Man. When pressed by a fan about whether the image was from the set of the sequel, Spencer confirmed that it was.
Recent images have teased a new Spider-Man costume that will be used in Amazing Spider-Man 2, a costume that looks closer to the Sam Raimi/Ultimate Comics version with raised “webbing,” bolder colors, and large white eyes.
This caused speculation from some film blogs that the plan was probably to have the original suit either ruined or just swapped out somehow after the first or second act, just like with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight. In that film, Batman’s costume for the first act was the same as in the previous film, Batman Begins. He later commissioned a leaner suit that would be easier to move around in.
But Spencer has back-tracked on his confirmation. He later tweeted in the same thread: “sorry correction this is not the new suit this is the old suit from the last movie,” and “no it is an older photo from the first movie.”
When pressed further by curious fans, Spencer simply tweeted:
@talhahl sorry I really can’t talk about the new movie

It could be possible that Spencer just accidentally leaked a plot point that wasn’t supposed to get out. He seems pretty certain at first, and then completely backtracks later. Might be a simple misunderstanding, might be a gag order. We’ll find out for sure on May 2, 2014.
In any case, it’s a cool picture:
Are you excited for The Amazing Spider-Man 2? Do you think we’ll see multiple suits, or no?
