Legendary golfer Arnold Palmer has landed a date with Sports Illustrated model Kate Upton.
Palmer, 83, and Upton, 20, will reportedly enjoy a sit down dinner together during the first round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational , which begins Thursday in Bay Hill, Florida.
After their dinner date, Upton and Palmer will attend the tournament, visit the Winnie Palmer Hospital — named after Arnold’s late wife — for Women & Babies, and discuss their plans to do a commercial together in support of the Arnold Palmer, a popular country club beverage consisting of iced tea and lemonade.
According to Fox Sports , the entire date was set up by Upton’s manager, Lisa Benson, whose father used to play golf regularly with Palmer at his home course in Pennsylvania.
As the story goes, Palmer helped Benson land her job at the firm IMG, which, in addition to managing sports and entertainment, also represents top models.
Arnold, who won the PGA Tour Lifetime Achievement Award in 1998, was late IMG founder Mark McCormack’s first client back in 1960.
In addition to her dinner date with Palmer, Upton may also go on a date with Jake Davidson , a 17-year-old Los Angeles student who created a clever video asking the Sports Illustrated swimsuit model to accompany him to his high school prom later this year.
“You had me at hello. You’re the ying to my yang, I’m Jewish, 5’9″ on a really good day — and I can’t dance at all,” Davidson says in the video, which is approaching one million views on YouTube. “You’re Christian, 5’10”, and that Cat Daddy video should have won an Oscar for best short film. You could say this is destiny.”
Upton later replied to the brave teen’s request , saying she would gladly attend the event if her schedule allowed.
“@jakedavidson23: youtube.com/watch?v=NvxqUE… ” you can call me Katie if you want! How could I turn down that video! I’ll check my schedule ?
