‘Iron Man 3’ IMAX Poster Combines Everything Into One Epic Scene [Photo]
Marvel has released what might be the last Iron Man 3 poster we’ll see before the film’s release on April 25, 2013. The IMAX poster is mostly a combination of other posters and images we’ve already seen, crammed together into one, epic scene.
At the center of the Iron Man 3 IMAX poster stands Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man, with parts of his Extremis-style armor stripped off apparently after the collapse of his seaside mansion. In his arm is Gwyneth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts, with a concerned look crowning an otherwise “damsel in distress” depiction.
To the left, an unmasked Don Cheadle as James Rhodes/War Machine/Iron Patriot, looking ready for battle. To his right, Guy Pearce’s enigmatic Aldrich Killian, who we know as a villain from the comics, even if his role in the film is not yet entirely clear.
Lastly, in the upper-right hand side, sits a contemplative and Ghaddafi-esque Ben Kingsley as The Mandarin, said to be the central “moral” villain of Iron Man 3. He is a terrorist leader (though he thinks of himself as a “teacher”), though how the film will handle his character while paying respectful homage to his fantasy-driven characterization in the comics remains to be seen.
More fun Iron Man 3 news: Avengers director Joss Whedon has reportedly seen the completed film, and it has him worried about how he’ll pull off The Avengers 2. That’s not to say it was a bad reaction, Whedon is just seemingly at a loss for what else he can do in the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Iron Man 3.
Marvel president Kevin Feige said of Whedon’s reaction:
“We have what I think is the biggest, you know, most action packed finale we’ve had. I showed the film to Joss Whedon who is our writer-director of Avengers, is currently working on Avengers 2, and he saw the finale of this and he goes, now what am I supposed to do now? What am I going to do in Avengers 2?”
Now our anticipation for Iron Man 3 is fully piqued. Check out the Iron Man 3 IMAX poster below. Let us know what you think!
