Judge Judy Responds To Lawsuit Over China Dishes
Judge Judy has responded to a recent lawsuit over a set of China dishes.
The television personality found herself the subject of a lawsuit after she purchased a set of dishes from producer Randy Douthit. Since the transaction reportedly took place without the consent of his ex-wife Patric Jones, she decided to file a lawsuit against the TV judge.
However, Judge Judy has responded to the lawsuit by stating that she intends to simply return the dishes to her producer. She originally paid $50,000 for the set.
“This very unpleasant lady doesn’t give a hoot about dishes. She cares about pressuring her ex-husband and the way to do that is to attempt to embarrass me,” she explained to TMZ.
She added, “As Ms. Jones and her attorney assert, the items are community property, they are being packed and returned to Mr. Douthit [her producer] and she can proceed with her claim in divorce court.”
Judge Judy said she didn’t want to be a part of the media circus Patric Jones and her attorney are attempting to stir up around the dishes. Instead of taking the bait, the TV judge will simply eat the $50,000 loss instead.
It’s currently being reportedly that the case between the Judge Judy producer and his ex-wife has been settled. Jones was able to retrieve the dishes after paying her former husband around $12,500.
“The sentimental value of this wedding china was that when [Douthit] finally could afford to get it, he got it for [Jones] and she went with her father to pick it out. It was one of the last things that she did with her dad before he died,” Jones’ lawyer said in a recent statement.
In her original lawsuit against Judge Judy, Jones wanted the return of the dishes in addition to $500,000 in punitive damages. She was also looking to recoup her court costs.
