‘Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa’ Trailer Released [Video]
The first teaser trailer for Alan Partridge: Alpha Papa has been released.
The movie is the first motion picture starring comedian Steve Coogan’s lovable radio DJ Alan Partridge. Although the clip doesn’t give fans much to chew on in terms of the story, it’s evident from the teaser that Coogan’s unique brand of humor is in full effect.
Instead of setting up the plot, the trailer for Alan Patridge: Alpha Papa focuses on the title. Partridge is seen sitting in a radio station with filmmakers as they discuss what they intend to call the feature. A number of hilarious suggestions are tossed around before they land on Alpha Papa.
The script for the upcoming Alan Partridge flick was penned by Steve Coogan, Armando Iannucci, Rob Gibbons, Neil Gibbons, and Peter Baynham. The film, which takes place in the city of Norwich, chronicles the character’s career after his employer is purchased by a huge media conglomerate.
Patridge first appeared in the show The Day Today and the fake chat program Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge. However, Steve Coogan’s character is probably best known for the BBC series I’m Alan Partridge. The show followed the radio host as he attempts to resurrect his career.
Although Coogan would portray the character during some of his live shows, Alan Partridge didn’t return to the small screen until the 2003 one-off special Anglian Lives. The character was also featured in a short-lived web series entitled Mid Morning Matters with Alan Partridge.
Fans of Coogan and Partridge have been waiting patiently for the feature to finally arrive. According to the embedded teaser trailer, Alpha Papa is slated to arrive in UK cinemas this August. It’s unclear when or if the movie will get a Stateside release.
