Axl Rose is being sued by a Guns N’ Roses fan after the singer knocked his teeth out with a microphone at a concert in Australia.
Darren Wright had his two front teeth damaged and also incurred injuries to his mouth after Rose threw his microphone into the crowd during the culmination of the band’s gig at Perth’s Perth Arena on Saturday March 9.
Wright was granted an interview by The West Australian newspaper in which he stated, “With the bright lights and explosions, I couldn’t see anything. The next thing I knew, I was whacked in the mouth. I though I had been punched.”
He then went on to add, “I was quite stunned and it took a few seconds to realise what was going on. I could feel bits of teeth in my mouth. Then someone is climbing through my legs to grab the microphone.”
Discussing the matter, Wright noted, “I don’t think he intended to do it, but it came at me at a fairly flat and hard trajectory. Those cordless microphones are not light. I’m not surprised it didn’t do more damage. At the very least, I want someone to pay to get my teeth fixed.”
Wright has already begun legal proceedings against Rose, and he expects the ordeal to take months to complete. The cost for his teeth to be fixed is thought to be in the region of $5,000.
Andrew McManus, Guns N’ Roses ‘ tour promoter, has reportedly contacted Mr. Wright to offer his sincere apologies. McManus even offered to give the microphone to him, signed by Axl Rose.
However, Wright has rebuffed this offer, and the 39-year-old then proclaimed, “I don’t think the microphone is going to fix my teeth. I’m a father of four on a single income doing it hard in Perth.”
Do you Darren Wright deserves compensation?
