Bachelor Sean Lowe just won the heart of now-fiance Catherine Guidici, but the couple has decided to wait until they actually get married to take the relationship to the next level.
Lowe, who describes himself as a Christian and a “born-again virgin,” said waiting for marriage to have sex is the right decision for them.
“From my perspective, I’ve lived life kind of selfishly for a long time,” Sean Lowe said in an interview with People magazine. “Now, I’m going to try to live it the way I know to be right.”
Catherine Guidici also said she’s on board, and unlike other Bachelor couples that fizzle out quickly after the show has ended, she and Lowe said they plan to walk the aisle soon.
They may have to wait at least a little bit longer, though. Lowe will be busy for at least the next few weeks as he’s been named as one of the contestants on Dancing with the Stars this season. He was actually rumored to be on the cast for the past few weeks, but when an official announcement in February didn’t have his name some thought Sean Lowe may have been bumped.
Giudici said she’ll move to Los Angeles to support Lowe while he’s competing on the show.
On his own reality show, it was something of an open secret that the Bachelor wanted to wait until marriage to have sex.
“It’s well known in the ‘Bachelor’ circle that he doesn’t have sex,” a source told the New York Daily News in January. “But he’s so charming and so polite. It’s a different kind of show this time around because he’s super-religious. He does party, but he also does Bible readings.”
Lowe has said he doesn’t understand the big deal about being a so-called “born again virgin.”
“I’m shocked,” he said. “I don’t know why every tabloid feels the need to talk about it. I’ve never described myself that way.”
While Sean Lowe and Catherine Guidici may be waiting until marriage to have sex, their fans won’t have to wait to see them get hitched. ABC has reportedly already signed on to air it.
