‘The Lone Ranger’ International Trailer Focuses On Johnny Depp [Video]

The international trailer for The Lone Ranger puts a specific focus on Johnny Depp.

Since The Pirates of the Caribbean star is easily the most recognizable face in Gore Verbinski’s blockbuster, it’s not surprising that the clip spends more time on Depp than anyone else.

The new trailer for The Lone Ranger takes a moment to set up the Tonto storyline before shifting its attention to how the two characters meet. Although the clip offers up a little bit of new footage — Helena Bonham Carter’s peg-leg gun makes a brief appearance — it’s not very different than what you’ve seen before.

Disney describes the film as follows:

“Native American spirit warrior Tonto recounts the untold tales that transformed John Reid, a man of the law, into a legend of justice-taking the audience on a runaway train of epic surprises and humorous friction as the two unlikely heroes must learn to work together and fight against greed and corruption.”

Director Gore Verbinski and Johnny Depp have developed a strong working relationship over the past few years. In addition to knocking out three Pirates of the Caribbean films together, the duo teamed up for the animated comedy Rango in 2011.

When the folks at Indiewire asked if any of the rumored supernatural elements would be found in the finished product, Verbinski used the opportunity to set the record straight.

“I don’t know where this idea of werewolves came from,” the director explained. “It’s never been in any draft I’ve worked on. But there’s a kind of Native American overlay of omens and other things happening that we don’t fully understand.”

The international trailer for the upcoming adventure has been included below.

In addition to Johnny Depp , Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger stars Armie Hammer, Tom Wilkinson, William Fichtner, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale, Ruth Wilson, and Helena Bonham Carter. The film opens in theaters across the US on July 3.
