Ed Asner Hospitalized, Rushed To Hospital By Ambulance
Ed Asner was hospitalized on Tuesday following a medical emergency that occurred during a performance of his live one-man show.
The 83-year-old Hollywood legend was rushed to the hospital while performing at the Marquette Pavilion in Gary, Indiana.
Crew members realized something was wrong just 15 minutes into Asner’s play FDR. The actor was struggling to recite his lines, and crew members walked out onto the stage to escort Ed to a waiting ambulance.
Asner was 45 minutes late in beginning the show, and fans in attendance said he appeared visually disgruntled by his condition. Spectators said Ed apologized for his medical emergency and promised to return when he was feeling better.
FDR sees Asner portraying former US President Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
The actor was taking to a local hospital for treatment of non-revealed medical condition.
Ed Asner is a well-respected Hollywood star who won Emmy’s for his roles on The Mary Tyler Moore Show and Lou Grant.
The famed actor has appeared in dozens of film and TV roles. Asner even connected with a younger audience by voicing the role of Grandpa Smith on the Seth MacFarlane cartoon series American Dad!
A mainstay in the Hollywood industry, Mr. Asner has also served as the president of the Screen Actors Guild.
Mr. Asner’s reps have not yet revealed the medical condition that led to his hospitalization. We will update this story when more information is made available.
