The Playstation 4, “First to Know” list that is being kept by GameStop is rapidly growing and now has more than 600,00 people on it.
While there have been all kinds of rumors surrounding the PS4, there hasn’t been a ton of solid information, despite the fact that the console has actually been formally announced.
GameStop is trying to help out people who are looking for hard news when it comes to the next generation console and are putting together a mailing list to facilitate the delivery of that information.
Playstation 4 fans will be able to find out release dates, games, accessories and special offers from the mailing list as long as they are GameStop Powerup subscribers.
The video game chain announced the creation of this particular list on February 20, and the company higher ups believe that more than 600,000 people have already signed up because the public is totally ready for a next generation console.
Sony has taken notice of the number of people who have signed up for information about their newest console with CEO Jack Tretton telling CNBC that “The level of enthusiasm we’re seeing from GameStop customers demonstrates how the promise of PS4 is resonating with gamers.”
Of the details that are available about the next iteration of the Playstation, we know that the device has an x86 CPU, enhanced PC GPU and 8GB RAM.
The dual shock controller has a touch pad and the console comes with a light bar that will act much the way the Playstation Move currently behaves.
While the console was debuted in February as well, there is currently no hard date for release. Conventional wisdom says that it will likely be out in time for the Holiday shopping season.
One report has the PS4 coming out in November.
