Sallisaw, OK – Click “Like” if you’re interested in buying some kids for $4,000!
Desperate for money, Misty VanHorn from Oklahoma decided to list her two children on Facebook for $4,000. The 22-year-old mother was arrested Saturday for alleged trafficking of minors through social media , having put her 10-month-old and her 2-year-old up for sale on the site, reports Mashable .
No, this wasn’t one of those frustrated mom moments where one might update her Facebook status to “anyone wanna buy some kids? These little brats are driving me crazy!” VanHorn is actually a repeat offender when it comes to “trafficking of minors” on Facebook.
She has offered the kids several times, according to the police report. She offered the 10-month-old for $1,000 or a combo deal with the two of them for $4,000. This time, the offer caught someone’s eye .
According to The Oklahoman , VanHorn was in communication with a woman in Fort Smith, Arkansas , but was busted before the deal could go down. Because this attempted crime would have occurred across state lines, VanHorn could be charged with a federal violation.
“Just come to Sallisaw, it’s only 30 minutes away and I’ll give you all of her stuff and let y’all have her forever for $1,000,” said a Facebook message from VanHorn to the Fort Smith woman, obtained by DailyDot .
So what did she need the money for? Cops believe that VanHorn was trying to curry up some cash to bail her boyfriend out of jail, if you can believe it. The children are currently in the custody of the state’s department of human services, who alerted police to her intention to sell them in the first place.
Oh, and real quick. Don’t go searching Facebook to find VanHorn for the purposes of flaming. There are multiple Misty VanHorns on Facebook, and at least two of them count Oklahoma as a residence (which doesn’t even mean that the actual perpetrator lists her home as Oklahoma on Facebook).
