Kristin Cavallari recently said her co-stars were bribed to spread rumors about her drug habit.
The former reality star caused a stir when she said that MTV’s hit series The Hills was “mostly fake.” Cavallari is now claiming that her co-stars were bribed to make up stories about using drugs .
“I had two lives,” she explained to E! News . “I had the public Kristin and then I had the real me.”
In order to make it seem as though Kristin Cavallari was as evil in real life as she was on the small screen, producers encouraged her friends to lie to press about her drug habits.
“I felt so used. And I realized at that moment that I didn’t matter. None of us mattered. It was all about ratings,” the former reality star explained.
Cavallari said that one producer attempted to bribe her co-stars with $25,000 worth of Birkin bags in exchange for fake stories about her alleged problems . However, the producer was unable to convince Audrina Patridge, Heidi Montag, Stephanie Pratt, or the other stars into doing the deed.
The reality TV veteran also said she didn’t know what she was getting into when MTV first started putting the show together.
“I was 16 when they first came. We were babies and we didn’t know what we were signing up for. They literally came in and just manipulated situations,” she revealed.
Kristin Cavallari maintains that she didn’t have a drug problem during her stint on The Hills . She did admit to trying cocaine during a 2010 interview with Access Hollywood .
“I tried it in high school. I admitted it! I don’t like being around it. I think it’s kind of a shady disgusting drug,” she said at the time.
Cavallari told Bravo’s Andy Cohen last year that the feud she had with Lauren Conrad was “exaggerated” by MTV producers.
“I do feel like [MTV producers] put things in our heads. I mean, we were 17 and 18. They made it a lot worse than it was. She is a very pretty girl … she’s very successful, and we actually have had a lot of really fun nights together, so she can be a lot of fun,” she said.
Do you believe Kristin Cavallari when she says her co-stars were bribed to make up stories about her drug addiction?
