Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie Wine Sold Out On First Day
The Brad Pitt Angelina Jolie wine brand looks like it’s going to be a big success if today is any indication.
The first batch of 6,000 wine bottles sold out in about five hours. Each six-bottle case sells for about $140 and was put on sale in France and on the Château Miraval web site only. The online sale started at 9 am in France and was over by 2 pm as wine connoisseurs apparently bought out the entire supply.
As The Inqusitir previously reported, the initial vintage is called Miraval Rose 2012 and is from Jolie-Pitt’s 1,000-acre estate in southern France and which is part of a joint venture with the well known winemaking family Famille Perrin. Brad Pitt met the winemakers through a mutual friend, and the actor/filmmaker/activist decided to add vinologist to his resume. Miraval Rose 2012 can be purchased by restaurants and wholesalers later this month.
The label of the Brad and Angelina’s wine — which is made from organic Provence grapes –reads “mis en bouitelle par Jolie-Pitt & Perrin” which translated means “bottled by Jolie-Pitt and Perrin.”
In a statement, Marc Perrin called the wine “aromatic with a round mouthfeel that is full of freshness.”
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie reportedly have more wine set to debut this summer, with a white wine on the release schedule. More red wines will be released next year as well.
Brad Pitt’s wine makes him the latest celebrity to release a brand of alcohol, though most stars are sticking to the harder stuff. Both George Clooney and Justin Timberlake have released their own tequila, Jay-Z has his own cognac, and Diddy released Ciroc Vodka in 2007.
Publicists for the A-list Hollywood couple have yet to issue a comment on the initial wine success.
Would you spend $23 for a bottle of wine with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s name stamped on it?
