Alison Pill And Jay Baruchel End Engagement [Report]
The Newsroom star Alison Pill and How To Train Your Dragon star Jay Baruchel have ended their engagement.
The two were engaged for two years before deciding to end their relationship, Us Weekly confirms.
Baruchel hinted that something was wrong when he tweeted, “Alone again, naturally. Heartbroken,” last month. He also wrote, “I won’t be on twitter for awhile gang. Getting dumped rules.” He has since deleted both tweets.
Pill, 27, and Baruchel, 30, became engaged in December 2010 after meeting on the set of Goon. They planned to marry in Quebec last September, and Barucel said they would be wed at an “ice wine vineyard.” He also said he and the groomsmen would be wearing kilts and that it would be a “very small, 70 person wedding, just friends and family.”
However, the wedding never happened, and Baruchel explained why in an interview with Times Colonist last month. He said, “Unfortunately, we’re two busy people who are intrinsically lazy. So in our free time, the last thing we want to do is book flights and organize hotel rooms for people.” He added, “But it will happen at some point.”
That interview was dated February 10; less than a week later, Baruchel tweeted that he was “alone again.”
The two did not give a reason for their breakup, but, as was the case with Jason Segel and Michelle Williams, distance may have played a factor in the couple deciding to end their relationship.
A source told Us Weekly, “Working and living in Canada is something that [Baruchel] is very passionate about. He wanted her up there more often, but she really likes Newsroom and the opportunities that are there for her.” The insider added, “They were doing the long distance [thing] a lot.”
While neither of the actors have publicly confirmed their breakup, it was clear that the relationship was over when Alison Pill was spotted at the 30th Annual PaleyFest on March 3 missing one very important accessory: her engagement ring.
