Sadly, this isn’t the first time a father has killed or attempted to kill his own family before taking his own life in recent weeks. As previously reported by The Inquisitr , a Texas man shot his estranged wife before killing himself at their daughter’s 16th birthday party. After Kelly Suckla and Kristi Suckla separated, Kristi and her teenage son and daughter moved into her parents’ house. The couple reportedly remained friendly despite the separation.
Kelly Suckla then went to his in-laws’ home for his daughter’s party and got into an argument with his estranged wife. He then took out a handgun and killed her before taking his own life. Neither the grandparents nor the couple’s children were hurt.
A neighbor said the couple had just celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary and that Kristi and Kelly Suckla “got along so well so even when she moved to her parents, I just figured she’d be back in a little while.”
