Baby Born After Mom Killed In Car Crash
A baby was born today shortly after his mother was killed in a car crash.
According to CNews, 21-year-old parents to be Raizi Gluber and Nathan Gluber were on their to the hospital late last night. Tragically, the taxi that Raizi and Nathan were riding in was hit by another driver.
Raizi was thrown from the car while her husband was left pinned in the vehicle. The driver of the other car fled the scene as emergency responders worked to save the young couple. Unfortunately, both Raizi and Nathan were pronounced dead upon arrival.
Doctors were able to save the baby, however, with an emergency C-section. The Bellevue Hospital has not commented on the condition of the baby boy yet.
The Clarion Ledger reports that the Glubers were married about a year ago and had settled down in Williamsburg to be close to Raizy’s prominent Orthodox Jewish rabbinical family. A friend of the family, Isaac Abraham, said that the community was broken up about the death of Raizi and Nathan Gluber.
Abraham said:
“How can the community react? It’s a shock. It’s like a punch in the gut. People are not prepared for this. Parents are not prepared to bury their children.”
Sara Glauber, Nathan’s cousin, added:
“You don’t meet anyone better than him. He was always doing favors for everyone.”
Police are currently looking for the driver who caused the fatal accident. Police said that the male driver, as well as another passenger, left their car at the scene of the accident and fled on foot.
