The X-Men character Storm, played in the original X-Men Trilogy by Halle Berry, will “almost certainly” appear in Bryan Singer’s upcoming mutant ensemble film X-Men: Days of Future Past according to a recent rumor.
A report issued Thursday claims that Berry will reprise the role in the upcoming film, which combines cast members from the original trilogy with those of X-Men: First Class . The report claimed :
“Earlier today I spoke with Halle Berry for an interview that will appear on S & A next week. But to give you a tease, the first thing I did ask her was whether she would be returning as Storm in the next X Men movie, X-Men: Days of Future Past … Well, she did confirm to me that she would be returning in the role. Most likely. Practically 90% sure. And she nodded a lot too.”
Berry wasn’t quoted, so we have no idea where she really stands (other than the fact that she has expressed interest in returning in the past) and Bryan Singer hasn’t announced her casting (which he has been apt to do via Twitter), so it’s hard to say how true the rumor is.
Still, Singer did recently say that he has left the door open for Berry, Famke Janssen, and James Marsden to return if they want to, it’s just a matter of time and getting all of the proper pieces in a row.
So the only thing that we can really be sure of as of now is that Halle Berry would like to return, and Bryan Singer would like to have her back. That’s not nothing, but it’s pretty much nothing until something is set in stone.
The comic book storyline for Days of Future Past sees a dystopian future triggered by the assassination of Senator Robert Kelly by The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants. In the comics, Kelly is sympathetic to mutantkind, while in the first X-Men film, he was a staunch opponent of mutant rights.
Surviving X-Men team members in the comic include: Wolverine, Kitty Pryde, Colossus, and yes, Storm.
What do you think? Would you like to see Halle Berry return as Storm for X-Men: Days of Future Past ?
