‘Game of Thrones’ Season 3 Character Posters Released
HBO continued their advertising blitz with the release of the Game of Thrones season three character posters. HBO has already been hitting the advertising numbers hard with the release of a couple of different trailers. The first trailer that was released was simply a 12 second teaser.
Another trailer was far more expansive, showing actual high powered scenes from the third season of the uber-popular fantasy series. A third trailer was simply the characters faces, up front and in profile. This seems to be a bit of a running theme with the advertising push for the show.
The new Game of Thrones season three character posters have 12 different character profiles. Each one has have their face in the light and looking (relatively) normal.
The other half of their profile is shadowed in darkness. This particular trick is clearly designed to be hinting about the darkness that resides in all of the characters of the show.
As SuperHeroHype points out, Summer can span decades while Winter can last lifetimes. With Winter apparently coming to the kingdoms and war raging, there are bound to be more than a few different confrontations between the characters and in the characters’ psyches.
Digital Spy brought the images of the posters, along with the news that season three will have some “supersized” episodes that will be longer than the usual running time.
This season is supposed to be covering the first half of the George R.R. Martin book, A Storm of Swords.
The new series is scheduled to begin on March 31 in the US and April 1 in the UK.
Do the Game of Thrones season three posters get you excited for the upcoming season. Are you planning to watch for the first time or is this a continuation of a fandom forged from the first season on?
