Jennifer Lawrence knows how to pick to good roles. This we know. But her latest may be her trickiest to date. The 22-year-old has taken on the role of matchmaker for her Silver Linings Playbook co-star, Bradley Cooper.
The recently crowned Best Actress Oscar winner, who has often inevitably been the subject of romantic talk about her and Cooper, told MTV News at the Academy Awards that their relationship was so platonic, she regularly sets her friends up with the 38-year-old actor.
“I feel like all I’ve been doing lately is setting him up,” Lawrence confessed. “I was like, ‘You know what? I’m gonna save time and just get you a booklet with pictures of my friends. You just go through and pick them out, because this is getting exhausting.’”
While it’s public knowledge that Cooper’s last girlfriend was Star Trek actress Zoe Saladana, and Lawrence recently split from Warm Bodies Brit star Nicholas Hoult after a two-year relationship, the actress admits that speculation about who she’s dating is par for the course.
“My publicist told me that a magazine was going to say I was having a thing with either Sam Claflin or Bradley Cooper, and I got to choose. And I chose Bradley Cooper.”
Her reason for choosing Cooper?
“Because I love Sam’s fiancée [actress Laura Haddock] so much,” Lawrence explained, jokingly adding, “Sam is so sweet. So sweet that he’s almost not hot anymore.”
Ouch. The popular and hysterically funny actress is currently filming reshoots for The Hunger Games sequel Catching Fire , and is set to c0-star with Christian Bale, Jeremy Renner, and Amy Adams in an untitled film about an FBI/Abscam sting that will see her reteam with director David O. Russell — and Cooper.
In fact, the pair who can’t seem to get enough of each other recently wrapped filming on Susanne Bier’s Serena , in which Lawrence and Cooper play a couple in Depression era North Carolina who are unable to have children.
The actress has also signed on for another Weinstein Company film The Ends of the Earth . Directed by Russell, Lawrence will co-star in the drama about an oil tycoon who has everything stripped from him after his affair is exposed, The Hollywood Reporter notes .
Clearly, career momentum is with J-Law right now. And who knows, maybe her matchmaking skills will kickstart her into a new relationship soon?
