Artie Lange hospitalized, reason undisclosed

Howard Stern show fixture and notorious chubby drug user Artie Lange has been hospitalized in New Jersey for undisclosed reasons.

Lange has been absent from the Howard Stern show since December 12th, and TMZ confirmed that Lange is currently hospitalized. A representative for Lange declined to elaborate on what the cause of Lange’s hospitalization may be:

“I can confirm that Artie is in the hospital. Artie has chosen to keep all information on this matter between him and his doctor. There will be no further comment.”

Lange’s dangerous lifestyle and fluctuating weight are common topics of discussion both on the Stern show and in other entertainment venues- Betty White quipped at The Comedy Central Roast of Bob Saget that she would outlive Lange. In addition to obesity related health problems, Lange is an admitted user of hard drugs such as heroin and cocaine. He claimed to have entered “intensive outpatient rehab” in mid-2008, but retracted those statements later in the year.
