Anne Hathaway Sorry For Revealing Oscars Gown
Anne Hathaway is sorry for her revealing Oscar gown swap that caused her nipples to show on the Red Carpet.
The actress originally planned to wear a stunning Valentino gown, but she heard the night before that another actress planned to wear a similar gown.
Instead, Hathaway wore a Prada column dress that left several wondering if her dress was badly darted, or if the actress accidentally showed off her breasts for the Oscars.
PEOPLE reports that the actress explained of her last-minute decision:
“It came to my attention late Saturday night that there would be a dress worn to the Oscars that is remarkably similar to the Valentino I had intended to wear, and so I decided it was best for all involved to change my plans.”
Hathaway was apparently sorry both for the unintended show of privates and the likely disappointment she caused to Valentino for not wearing his dress.
Us Weekly notes that Valentino’s team wasn’t aware of Anne Hathaway’s gown switch for the Oscars. They sent out a press release just hours before red carpet arrivals, announcing that the Best Supporting Actress front-runner would be wearing “a pink embroidered tulle illusion gown.”
The similar dress was reportedly Amanda Seyfreid’s Alexander McQueen dress. Hathaway reportedly asked her Les Miserables co-star what she could be wearing and if Anne could have a picture of it. Seyfried complied and Anne, surprised by how similar the two dresses were, changed her mind.
Anne Hathaway added of her last-minute wardrobe change:
“Though I love the dress I did wear, it was a difficult last minute decision as I had so looked forward to wearing Valentino in honor of the deep and meaningful relationship I have enjoyed with the house and with Valentino himself.”
Anne’s wedding dress last year was designed by Valentino himself. Do you think Anne Hathaway made the right decision to switch dresses, or should she have stayed with Valentino, even though the dress was similar to Seyfried’s?
