Kathy Bates Signs On For ‘American Horror Story’ Season 3
Actress Kathy Bates has reportedly signed on to star in the third season of American Horror Story.
The award-winning star of Misery will join Jessica Lange for the next season of the hit genre series. TVLine reports that Bates will play Lange’s best friend in the show. Although they start out as pals, their friendship splinters at some point during the storyline.
However, Bates isn’t the only actress who will be joining up for the third season of American Horror Story. According to Entertainment Weekly, season one co-star Taissa Farmiga will return for another go-around on the show.
As for what fans can expect from the new season, series creator Ryan Murphy said viewers can expect something a little different than what they’ve seen in the past.
He explained:
“What we’re doing is more ambitious than what we’ve ever done. This one will be shot on location in three different cities in the country.”
Also returning for the next installment of American Horror Story are Frances Conroy, Lily Rabe, Sarah Paulson, and Evan Peters. All of the returning actors and actresses will portray different characters in season three.
Coming Soon explains that Murphy and company will produce another 13 episodes of the horror anthology. Production on the new season is currently expected to begin at some point this summer. Fans of the series can expect the new episodes to begin airing this fall.
Details about the third season’s storyline are few and far between at the moment. However, Ryan Murphy revealed that Jessica Lange would portray a “glamour cat leading lady” while Evan Peters would likely portrayed another “sobbing psychopath” in the new season. Nothing else was revealed about Kathy Bates’ character.
