Breaking: Jason Segel And Michelle Williams Split [Report]
Does true love really last in Hollywood? That’s what fans might be asking when they hear about the recent split of Jason Segel and Michelle Williams. The couple, who have been dating each other for nearly a year, has decided to part ways.
According toUS Weekly the reason behind Jason Segel and Michelle Williams’ split is the long distance between the two of them. Michelle Williams lives with her daughter Matilda in New York, while Jason Segel shoots his CBS sitcom How I Met Your Mother in Los Angeles.
Earlier in the year, we reported that Segel was the sole hold out for signing on for yet another season of How I Met Your Mother. Perhaps the reason behind it was wanting to settle down with Williams back on the east coast.
The split of Segel and Williams comes as a bit of a shock. Out of all the couples that slip in and out of relationships, this one above all seemed to be carefully crafted. The two, who have mutual friends including Michelle’s friend Busy Philipps, met at a party and began dating quickly after that. In many photos, the pair seemed to have created a family unit, especially with Michelle Williams’ daughter Matilda, who she had with late boyfriend Heath Ledger.
In addition, Heath’s father, Kim, candidly spoke about being happy with Jason being in Michelle and Matilda’s lives. Ledger’s father even went on to say that Segel invited the whole Ledger family out to Los Angeles to his home any time they would like.
Back in September, Williams and Segel seemed to be on a fast track to settling down despite the distance that lead to their split. The pair bought an apartment in Red Hook, which was then flooded by hurricane Sandy.
Earlier on in the relationship, while Segel was promoting The Five-Year Engagement, he was coy but told Extra about his relationship with Williams: “I think we would just very much like to be happy. That’s all I’m going to say about it.”
Just recently Williams’ opened up about her relationship with Segel during a press junket for her new film Oz: The Great And Powerful, having said:
“If people are happy about it that makes me feel good because in my head the opposite is often true — that people fault or blame you for things.”
